Centre for Excellence in Alzheimer's Disease Research and Care:
The strategy of enhancing research capacity through partnerships saw the Foundation take a leading role in establishing the Centre of Excellence in Alzheimer’s Disease Research and Care. This Centre involves collaboration between all the major universities in Western Australia, and also has secured research commitments from the private sector, notably Ramsay Health Care, Hall and Prior, and Amana (formerly Anglican Homes), the biggest age-care group in WA. This development has allowed a significant expansion of Alzheimer’s disease research through all sectors affected by the disease. Importantly, it has brought together, for the first time, a wide range of expertise ranging through medical research, care and support, and a number of other disciplines all aiming at one goal: "A world free of Alzheimer’s disease".
This Centre has created a strategic alliance of most researchers in Alzheimer’s disease locally, with extended collaborations nationally and internationally. Most of the leading scientists in Professor Martins’ international collaborative groups have been eager to be involved.
