How to Help
A top priority for the McCusker Foundaqtion for Alzheimer's disease research is the raising of funds. This supports the core research team that is the driving force behind research generated by the unit.
The support and generosity from major donors makes it possible for us to exist. The Foundation is continuing to seek funds from community and corporate sources to continue the research efforts.
One significant new fundraising effort in collaboration with the Alzheimer's Australia WA association has a goal of raising sufficient funds for the Foundation to grow a capital Fund. This Fund will make a significant contribution to providing stable and ongoing funding for research. The campaign is called the remember me campaign.
About the remember me campaign
In an attempt to address what has been
described by Access Economics as a nation-widedementia epidemic Alzheimer’s
Australia WA has joined with The McCusker Foundation for Alzheimer’s Disease
Research to raise $10 million.
Chairman of the McCusker Foundation, Malcolm McCusker AO QC said that finding a
cure, effective treatment and high quality care are critical for more than
22,000 Western Australians who are living with Alzheimer’s disease and other
forms of dementia. Dementia will be the number one cause of death of Western
Australians over 65 years within a generation.
“We believe that by raising $10 million we can strengthen the State’s ability
to find a cure for Alzheimer’s and to care for those already suffering from Alzheimer’s
and other forms of dementia, which are progressive, degenerative and fatal
brain diseases.”
Craig Masarei, Chairman of Alzheimer’s Australia WA said that funds raised
through the “remember me” campaign will be shared equally by The McCusker Foundation
and Alzheimer’s Australia WA.
The theme of the campaign is “remember me….when i can’t remember
you”.
All donations raised through the remember me campaign will be shared equally between the McCusker Foundation and the Alzheimer's Australia WA association.
