Bequests

A bequest is when you make a gift through your will. Your gift, be it large or small, can make a significant and lasting difference to our research.

Your gift can be:

A specific sum of money;
A percentage of your estate;
A specific asset/s of your estate, such as property, shares, art, jewellery, or fundraising auction prizes;
The residual of your estate - the remains after specific and general bequests to family, friends and other organizations have been made;
Any other source of funds you own such as contributions from a trust or an insurance policy.

The importance of a Will

A Will ensures that your property is distributed in the way you would have wished it to be.

If you don't have a valid Will, your estate will be disbursed in accordance with Government regulations.

Making a Bequest

You are strongly advised to seek the advice of a solicitor in making your Will. This will ensure it accords with all requirements of the law and the solicitor will assist you to determine the most effective way to achieve what you wish to do with your estate.

Note that a gift to a registered charity is free from inheritance tax.

I give and bequeath (please specify the nature of your gift) to the McCusker Alzheimer's Research Foundation Inc, ABN 34 575 647 667, registered office Suite 22, Hollywood Medical Centre, 85 Monash Ave, Nedlands, WA 6009 for its general purposes and declare that the receipt from an executive officer at the time shall be sufficient discharge of my executors duty.
